T.O.V.A. Testing for ADHD

Evidence-Based

  • FDA-Approved
  • Available for Children & Adults

At RASS Psychiatry & Wellness Services, we provide the Test of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.) as part of our comprehensive ADHD evaluation process.

The T.O.V.A. is an evidence-based, FDA-cleared continuous performance test designed to objectively measure attention, response control, processing speed, and impulsivity.

T.O.V.A. testing is available for children and adults ages 4–80, and is used to support accurate diagnosis and guide treatment planning.

Purpose of the T.O.V.A. Test:

The T.O.V.A. offers a quantitative, unbiased measurement of attention and inhibitory control.

It helps clinicians understand patterns commonly associated with:

     - ADHD/ADD
     - Inattention
     - Impulsivity
     - Executive functioning difficulties

T.O.V.A. results are not a standalone diagnosis—they are used alongside a full clinical evaluation to ensure clarity and accuracy.

What We Offer at RASS Psychiatry:

We administer both the Visual T.O.V.A. and Auditory T.O.V.A. tests.
Each test takes about 20–25 minutes and is conducted in our office under clinical supervision.

After your test, our clinicians review the full performance profile, score data, and compare results to age-based norms.

How a Full ADHD Evaluation Works:

A complete assessment may also include:

    - Review of personal and family history
    - ADHD symptom checklists
    - Standardized self-report questionnaires (completed by you and/or a parent/partner)
    - Clinical interview focused on daily functioning, school/work performance, and behavioral history
    - Interpretation of T.O.V.A. results
    - Guidance on whether additional psychological testing is needed

ADHD symptoms often overlap with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma history, medical conditions, sleep problems, or learning differences.

Our goal at RASS Psychiatry is to provide a clear, accurate diagnosis and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
